YALE Commission: Phyllis Curtin, American Soprano
Back in the spring, Frank delivered this painting to the Branford College at Yale. They were absolutely blown away with not only the likeness but the skill and the level of detail and his handling of the paint. He was commissioned by the Yale University Art Gallery and took part in a celebration at the unveiling in the Branford College dining hall with friends and family of the late Curtin.
Phyllis Curtin was Head of Branford College at Yale during 1970's and early 80's. She is the first female to be portrayed and this commission was ordered under Elizabeth "Betsy" Bradley, current Head of Branford College, and the second woman to earn this title.
The portrait will reside in the dining hall with the many other portraits of past Heads/Masters at Branford.

There was a lovely and large crowd to celebrate "Studio Still Lifes" Opening Reception last Saturday Night. And on Sunday, a crowd of about 30 sat for 2 hours to watch Frank build and paint a still life from scratch. Many felt that Frank revealed so much about the process and loved receiving it.
Frank and I are grateful for those of you who walked in or posted or called or bought in support of this latest body of work for which he labored for the past 2 years.
The show remains hanging until this Sunday, March 19th. Please come and visit, during Kehler Liddell Gallery hours or by appointment.
If you have a group, students, friends, art lovers, who would appreciate seeing these beauties in the generous and elegant gallery setting, just call us, 203-444-3100 for a private viewing.

A Return to Celebrating ART, and all Things that Bring YOU Joy.
A reminder to STOP, turn off that which is angst producing, and LOOK AWAY, to see what BEAUTY you can easily find...music, art, the great outdoors, food and drink, and your dog....
Look HERE! click to enlarge and read below...
Frank is finishing a new body of work, "Studio Still Lives" for a vast exhibit at the Kehler Liddell Gallery in Westville, New Haven, CT from February 16-March 19th, 2017.
The Opening Reception is scheduled for March 11, 2017, 3-6pm. You must join us to celebrate beauty and Frank's paintings, and to clink your "glass" with neighbors and fellow collectors.
"Studio Still Lives" shows the extreme beauty of the most common of artists' painting supplies... luscious tubes of oil paint, palettes with multiple layers of crusted over paint, chock full tabourets, well-worn paint splotched brushes, canvas pliers, myriad solvents in finger smudged glass bottles. Always incorporated in these studio studies is some sublime addition from nature, a jar filled with apples and pears, an orchid stolen from our living room, a vase of forced bulbs, tulips and...poker chips? Yes, some friends set up still lifes with objects meaningful to them. What objects are important to you? Come and see how the everyday stuff of our lives become exalted when painted on the canvas...Bruckmann style. Or at least to find out what the heck is a tabouret!

Monhegan Island Workshop in Maine: June 4-10, 2016
Frank and the Island Inn on Monhegan Island, ME have teamed up for a second year for a full week of a painting workshop....a combination of hard work and rustic comfort, on this gem of a destination, 13 miles out to sea....
Would you love to get away with your easel and paint for a week in one of the region's most lovely places??? You can also hit the 17 miles of hiking trails, visit the Monhegan Museum up on lighthouse hill, beach comb, visit the library and read, shop in boutique stores, visit artist's studios, eat a lobster roll on Fish Beach, try Monhegan Brewery's latest home crafted brews, climb on a shipwreck, that is, when time allows....
....because you will be busy painting, as Frank barely takes a break, and you will learn a ton about blocking in a painting, value, color, composition, and drawing. Here is the link for more information....
